Acoustics
Acoustics is the control of sound entering the house, moving between rooms inside it, and generated by its own equipment. It matters along the I-35 corridor because much of the buildable land sits near highways, arterials, rail, and flight paths, and because the same tight, hard-surfaced construction that performs well thermally can be acoustically live inside. Acoustic performance is largely decided by assembly, glazing, and equipment choices made before framing — it is expensive and often impossible to add afterward.

Three separate problems

Exterior noise intrusion is governed mainly by glazing, wall assembly mass and decoupling, and the airtightness of the enclosure, since sound follows the same leaks air does.

Interior sound transmission between rooms is addressed with rated assemblies, careful penetration detailing, and door selection — laboratory ratings describe assemblies, and field performance depends on installation.

Mechanical equipment noise is designed for through equipment selection, duct sizing and layout, and isolation details rather than corrected later.
Site assessment
Where a site has an obvious exterior noise source, we say so during assessment and describe the trade-offs plainly instead of leaving it to be discovered after move-in.

We do not promise a quiet house as an outcome. We specify assemblies with stated ratings and describe what those ratings do and do not predict in the field.
